Wowzer!

Ok, so I really didn't expect that kind of response to the baby food! 7 people emailed me and wanted it. So to be fair, I'll give it to the first to email.
And the winner is Melanie!

By the way, I think Barry is try to get me to leave him...
He has apparently told our Bishop that I will speak in church in 3 weeks.
While I won't be leaving him, I may make his life miserable! :)

Free Baby Food

Does anyone need baby food?
I have tons of it! I bought enough for Sara's first year when she was about 3 months. I did a double coupon thing at Target and bought about $250 worth of food for about $8.00.
Well now Sara refuses to eat it! She gags and makes all sorts of faces. She only wants what we eat.

I have 23 cups of 2nd Foods
46 Jars of 3rds and
4 boxes of oatmeal cereal.

I can't really return or exchange it seeing that I hardly paid for it, it just doesn't seem right. So Please will someone take it off my hands! Hey it's baby food storage!
Or if you know of someone who could use it just let me know and I'll drop it off to them.

Ryan and Grandpa

Ryan was helping Grandpa fix the toilet the other day. I always think this is very cute. He loves to help Grandpa with whatever he is doing. He is Grandpa's little shadow. So here is a slide show of Ry and Grandpa since he was about 20 months till now, fixing things.

Gorgeous

I babysit Natasha's girls on Wednesday's. Jena has such a great time with them. Last week they wanted to put on some of Jena's makeup, so Ryan volunteered to do it for them. Here are the pics. He put on eye shadow, mascara, lipstick and painted their nails! I think he did a pretty good job too! I think he needs a brother!

Big Wheel Derby

We consolidated storage units today, ours, mom and dads and Matt's. What a pain! The kids had a great time with the Big Wheel. Do they still call them Big Wheels? Jena found the snowmobile helmet first and then the bike. I think the helmet weighs more than they do. Sara also thought this was great fun but she wouldn't stay sitting, she wanted to stand on the bike. Good Times!

I attended Stake Women's Conference today. The main speaker was our Bishop, Bishop Steve Bednar. He has such a gift for speaking. It was just incredible to sit and learn from him for 1 1/2 hours. I could have sat there all day! When I was getting ready to go this morning I just dressed in my normal jeans and white t-shirt. My mom came up all dressed up in a dress and asked, 'Aren't you going?' I groaned like a teenager and shuffled down the hall to put a dress on. I don't think I'm ever going to grow up. So grey cotton skirt and white t-shirt. :)

By the way, I'm still reading Sense and Sensibility. I have to read it so slow to understand the language. It is driving me crazy. It is such a great story, I just can't wrap my head around they way they spoke. I'm so blessed to have been born in 1978 America instead of 1878 England. I am so grateful for running water, flushing toilets, the fridge and freezer, cars, central air and heat, TV and all the other things I could technically live without even though I don't think I could.

Family Favorites

These are a few of our favorite things...

Sara-

  1. Apple Juice in her sippy cup that she FINALLY learned to use.
  2. Saying Ought Oh.
  3. Splashing like a maniac on her stomach in the tub.
  4. Giggling like crazy every time you tell her no. And the repeating it - nononononono!
  5. Walking back and forth between mom and dad until she is so excited she can't stop bouncing and laughing long enough to even stand up straight.
Jena-
  1. Telling everyone the time on her 'I Love Troy' High School Musical Watch. Every 2 minutes.
  2. Tooting and then giggling so hard she can't speak.
  3. Writing her name a million times and any other word she can copy.
  4. Dressing exactly like mom, down to the jewelry.
  5. Singing, 'I Gotta Go My Own Way' from morning until night!
Check out the video for this song. This little girl is 13. Wow I dream about being able to sing like this! She makes it look effortless. (Sorry about the HSM video)

Ryan-
  1. Getting to school 30 minutes early so he can be FIRST in line!
  2. Reading, Reading, Reading! Every sign on the street, every word in the store.
  3. Playing football after school with 'the guys'.
  4. Showing mom every morning just how many clothes he has grown out of that day!
  5. Finally being able to 'Heeley' without falling! Even if it is only for 2 feet.
Kelli-
  1. Reading
  2. Sleeping, there is a shortage lately.
  3. Sitting through church without Sara. :)
  4. Being able to stay home with my kids each day and finally, truly enjoying it.
  5. Tax Returns.
Barry- (from Kelli's point of view)
  1. Sleeping, Sleeping and more Sleeping. :)
  2. Taking over Kelli's iPod.
  3. Teaching Defensive Tactic classes at the Academy.
  4. Putting funny sound bits on his cell phone.
  5. Ummm, did I mention Sleeping?

Happy Birthday Nate!

Nate has a picture that looks just like this every year on his birthday. I'm dubbing it the 'Birthday Face'.

He must be pretty old from the looks of the the pillar of fire on that birthday cake!
Notice how smoky this picture is!

Sledding

Just some fun family sledding photos.

Proof

I know this photo does not have a time and date stamp on it, but if it did, it would prove that for we made to 9:00 am church at 8:50! Not only that, but we have done it 3 weeks in a row!
It's like a morning marathon and by the time we get there Sara is so hyped up that she bounces and squeals all through Sacrament Meeting.

Jena and Sara love their matching dresses that Granny mad them. Ry didn't feel left out for once because his green tie matched. Although he really doesn't understand the dressing the same thing. 'Girls are so weird' he says.

Workbooks

A few people have been asking me to give them the files for my kids workbooks and job charts. So here they are. I made the job charts generic pdf's but the workbooks have Jena and Ryan's names on them. If you have Adobe InDesign I can email you the native files and you can change them yourself or email me what you want changed and I'll personalize them for you. The workbooks I actually stole from Nat so I can't take full credit for those. :)

Before

Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I slept all night. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Chinese Taxes

Every year I'm not sure if I hate taxes or love them. I hate the process of doing them for sure. Have Barry do them...Ha Ha that's really funny! They remind me that we make no money but Bary is a cop so what do I expect. But then I really like getting a nice little refund check every spring. So would I rather make more money and get no refund? Hmmm, I'm don't know.

Confusion

Even my cute little computer is rebelling against taxes this year. I'm in the midst of imputing all the info, trying really hard to understand all the tax law involved with the sale of our house last year and not doing a very good job of it. I'm sure I've created some new permanent frown lines and creases in my face. I have finally determined all the expenses related to the sale of our home and start to input this into turbo tax when I realize what I'm typing is appearing as Chinese symbols on my screen! ??? Don't know how this happened and I could not for the life of me figure out how to fix it! So I had to give the computer a little rest and it is all better now.

Happiness

Good luck to all of you with your taxes!

shower theater

i love this little girl!
jena
15 months

jena's imagination is simply amazing to me! i am so entertained when she thinks no one is listening. especially in the shower. tonight she was a mermaid, ariel's best friend. they were having a fight because they were both in love with eric. jena won, married him and they are still friends because ariel married the beast. this was all enjoyed in song no less.

poor sara has been sick. fever, cough, runny nose, aches and pains. she is a nyquil commercial, too bad she can't have any! needless to say, nights have been a bit rough around here this week. trying to rock her to sleep at 2 am, feeling so bad for her that she can't breath and wants her binky, but can't breath! wishing i could just be sick for her.

Dwight

Just ran into this. Very Funny!
Dwights Blog
If your and Office fan you really must take a look.

Good Morning

This is where you can find Jena each morning. Cuddled up in her blanket in front of the heater vent waiting for breakfast.

Also, Sara took about 5 steps on her own! Holy Cats she is just 10 months! After she realized what she had done she got so excited, bouncing up and down, giggling and waving her arms that she couldn't keep her balance to do it again.

Next

I've started reading Sense and Sensibilty by Jane Austen. Why? Well because I love the movies and I figure I should actually read her books. Hoping I don't get lost in the language and loose interest. My goal is to read one of her books between every other book I read. I've also got TiVo set to record all the Masterpiece versions of the movies. So I'll read the book and then watch the movie.

We saw this trailer at P.S. I love you and Teri told me it was based on the book The Other Boleyn Girl. So I'm excited to get reading it before I see the movie. There is another book called The Boleyn Inheritance. I'm not sure if they are sequels and if so which comes first. If you know, tell me so I can read them in order.

Weekend Recommendations

  1. Cheesecake Factory is definetly worth the 2 hour wait!
  2. 1 Slice of Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake is worth a 4 hour wait. Even when you can't finish the whole thing.
  3. P.S. I love you is a must see.
  4. My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult is a must read.
  5. Old Navy Outlet - Park City: Shirts for $1, Pants for $3, Socks for $0.24.

Mommy Emotion

It is amazing the perspective you get when you are away from your children. Sometimes it takes a weekend trip, other times just a few hours. I stayed home from Church yesterday because I wasn't feeling well and I kept thinking to myself how fast that 3 hours was going, it was so nice to be home in the peace and quite, I didn't want it to end. Right on schedule I heard the car pull up and the back door open and in comes the family.

I was surprisingly struck with such an overwhelming amount of emotion. As my children came through the door one by one I could not believe how big they were. As if it were possible for them to age a year in the 3 hours they were away at church. Ry has lost all hope of looking like a little boy anymore. He had bonked his head on a door at church and was still a little sad about it. I pulled him in for a hug and just couldn't let go until he started to wiggle, "Mooooom! Let me go!" And Jena came dancing and singing in the door like usual but I couldn't believe how thin she seemed and beautiful. She has changed the most to me in the last year, grown up so much I can't believe the pictures of her only 1 year ago and how small she was. Jena however will let me hug her as long as I want. And sweet Sara, she is changing by the day, I just can't keep up! It seems every day she is getting braver, trying new things. She watches you and you see that she has a whole new understanding on the world. She is starting to really try and play with the older kids and her laugh is so wonderful.

I think we I just go from day to day going through all the motions and forget to really see my family. I need to slow down and enjoy all the little things, all the pictures they draw just for me, all the questions they ask 10 times, all the things that are so exciting to them. My family is so Wonderful, I am truly blessed, and I don't know what I would do without them!

Spell Check

It has come to my attention, well Barry just told me, that I need to use spell check on my blog. Apparently board is a piece of wood and I keep trying to use it for bored speaking of the state of mind. I told him, I really don't care. People get it. It's like all the words I use that are not really grammaticly correct. (I don't really think that is a word either and I know it's not spelled right if it is, case in point!) Or the fact that I say squirt and ticker instead of washer fluid and blinker. It makes me who I am! And I like it. Besides there is no spell check in blogger and I'm not going to copy and paste into Word and back. I despise Word!

Sorry babe, I don't see spell checking in the near future! Thanks for the suggestion. Love You!

Oh and for Karen, I hope your mom never reads my blog, she would die being that she is an English Professor and because I'm probably a bit crass. I don't thing I'm all that crass, but I'm sure to your mom I'm really crass. And I'm sure my sentences are all wrong ending with prepisitions or something. (This is a rule I don't recall learning in school, Karen just taught it to me over the New Year Holiday. Who Knew?) I also mention the unmentionable words like pee and poop. So if she does ever read it, I sincerely apologize.

Mom 1 Ryan 0 - or is it the other way around?

Ryan lives to argue, debate, take the other side, drive me insain! Whatever you would like to call it. Whatever you say, even if he asked you the questions, he has a better answer and not only that, he has an explanation as to why you are wrong. It's like the moment he starts I can feel my entire body tense up as I brace myself for an extended debate. From the moment he is awake to the moment he falls asleep. Actually he can argue while dreaming, he is sort of famous for sleep talking.

He also knows all there is to know about Sara. She's tired, she's hungry, she wants me to mom, she doesn't like Jena. The minute I set her down he picks her up, if she cries and I don't immediately goes to her. While most of the time this is very brotherly and cute, it's not so cute when he gets her out of bed because she was whining and I just put her in it. Or out of the highchair when I just put her in it or I set her in her walker and get in the shower and the next thing I know he is hauling her in by her armpits and setting her outside the shower. (Which just happens to be at the base of the toilet. Hence the reason she is in her walker!!!) Sorry that was a little tangent I didn't intend to go off on.

Anyway, this morning I am asking Ryan what he wants for breakfast. He says Oatmeal with Brown sugar. I get out a package of Quaker Oatmeal Maple and Brown sugar. And he starts...

Mom that is not Brown Sugar Oatmeal.
Yes it is Ry.
No Mom, the package does not look like that.
They just changed what the package looks like Ry.
Mom....
Ryan do you have to argue with everything? It is silent for almost a full minute.
Hmmmm, I can see your point. And he walks out of the room.
I have no idea where is heard this expression, but I'm still not sure what to think of it. It's never that easy with him. That conversation would usually gone on until the oatmeal was cooked and Jena had taste tasted it to confirm it was in fact Brown Sugar Oatmeal. Not that I'm complaining, because I never complain! Nope, not me! :)

If I can just get Ryan through school he's going to make a great lawyer one day.

A little Monster and Monster Spray

Just some cute pictures of Sara this morning. She is really getting mobile and into everything! She unties her crib bumper everyday, loves to bite the nobs on her dresser and this morning she discovered the little pom pom on my slippers and then tried to eat them. Notice the purple polka-dot blanket she will not sleep without it.

This is a little video of Sara's first words, sort of. And her growling and squealing that goes on All day. Literally, she is so noisy!

Ry has been having nightmares lately, we aren't sure about what. I'm sure it's just normal kid stuff, but we have tried just about everything to direct his mind elsewhere. Last night I told him that I found some Monster Spray at a kids store I went into. So we preceeded to spray it all over his room. Wow did it smell! Monsters do not like smells! He was a bit skeptical, but this morning he came in first thing very excited because he slept all night with no bad dreams! "Let's spray my room again tonight!"

This is the "Monster Spray."

Girls Night Anyone?

Ok, I totally want to go see 27 Dresses. It comes out Friday. So does anyone want to go see it with me this weekend? I'm thinking dinner too...Olive Garden, California Pizza Kitchen or Cheesecake Factory.
I know Olive Garden is Generic, but I really love it, sorry Teri. Thanks a lot Melanie for telling me there is a Cheesecake Factory in Utah! I was better off not knowing this! Seriously :)

Swimming in January?

Ryan was sure I'd lost my mind when I told him they had swimming lessons. "Mom, it's freezing!....Oooohhhh, inside, that's smart." Swimming lessons turned into 2 hours of swimming, they quickly figured out that I didn't bring my suit and could not come in after them. This is one of those moments where I can't figure out if I should be mad or laugh because they are so proud of themselves for thinking of this. A little of both I suppose.

I once saw and episode of Desperate Housewives, I think it was like the second one, cause I've never watched it sense, where the lady with like 4 boys try's to get her kids out of a pool they have jumped into fully clothed at a funeral. They won't get out so she goes in after them in her dress appologizing as she goes and then drags them home. I loved it! I wish I could do this with my kids sometimes. They know I get embarrassed and totally take advantage of it. In the end I just sat back and got a good 2 hours of reading done in my book.

That swim ring on Jena's head is NOT a Halo!
At least not today :)

Ry is so excited to be able to go down the slide by himself this year!
Jena is completely content to sit in the shallow end and play.

Curse This Thing!!! Whose idea was this anyway? I really despise it. It's meant for little kids right? I'm thinking 8 and under. But no it's full of 12-14 year old little punks who blast all the little kids in the face with water so they are terrified to go up there and use the slides! Were I in my swimming suit they would have gotten and earful from me. (Not that they would have cared.) However they got kicked off by the life guard instead. Teenagers are such little.... Besides the teenagers, you can hardly play in the shallow end without getting shot with some sprayer coming off this thing. It practically takes up the entire kiddy pool. Jena always asks if we can shut the fountain things off. I Wish! Maybe I'll right a letter. I know I'm not the only mom who feels this way!

Ry thought he was pretty awesome because he touched the ceiling. Jena had no desire to go more than 2 feet off the floor. Ryan has been doing push-ups and sit-ups each night before we do scriptures and prayers. He is so sure his new muscles are the reason he got clear to the top!

Board

Just a funny picture of Sydney and Ryan at Ash and Nate's Wedding.
Someone emailed it to me recently and I just thought it was sort of cute.
They were pretty board through all the talking and toasting.

Hey 7th Ward

I was well, wasting time this afternoon and starting checking out all the blog links from other peoples blogs and ended up finding about 5 different blogs of people I went to High School with. Sort of funny actually, I felt like I should get in trouble for spying into their lives. Anyway, I ran into Kimi (Moriyama) Bradley's blog and thought there is a few of you out there that might want to check it out to. I'm so glad she found such a cute guy finally. Like it isn't Obvious!

So I'm a little obsesessed with the blogging thing. I'm not a big conversationalist (is that a word?) So I love everyone who has a blog. I harass all my friends to start one, they aren't listening so well.

Anyway, I was so excited to see Nat Steadman has finally decided to update her blog as well as my little bro Matt. Matt has some really great pics of 'his island' we have starting calling it. The kids can't remember 'Grand Turks', so we have just starting saying 'Matt's Island'.

New Years Resolutions

Seek learning, even by study and also by faith. D&C 88:118

So I'm not much for New Years Goals. Giving it a try this year anyway. We've decided to read the Book of Mormon as a family. We have started and stopped this several times and I'm hoping the use of some charts will help us along.

I plan to use this one for the kids.
I wanted one they could just put a sticker on, I though it would be simplier than having to color it. After much searching I finally found one online that will work. I'm glad too, because once I open up Adobe Illustrator to make something like this I'm there for a really long time obsessing over it.

This is also a good one for kids here.

I think I'll use this one for me.

I love the quote at the bottom of this chart.

"If you don't have time to pray and read your scriptures, you are busier than God ever intended you to be."

Girls Day

Today was Jena and Allie's Girls Day with Teri. She first let them put on the makeup she gave them for Christmas and then took them to a friends Salon to have their hair and nails done. They had a wonderful time! Allie said, 'I hope they have Beauty Salons in Kansas!' I have a feeling she's creating little Divas!

Boys Day

Teri is such a great Aunt.
She tries to take the kids on Girls Days and Boys Days.
They love this and get very excited about it.
Here is Ry and Spence on their boys day sledding.

I love when kids cuddle up together.
If you pointed it out to them they would surely move apart.
They are so cute.
It's been like a non-stop slumber party around here.

Happy 2008!

Well, we played some games and ate too many treats. Tori of course was the life of the party. What would we do without you Tor? Then Teri apparently felt the need to relive being 15 years old and attacked me from behind with a nylon to the head. If you have never done this, you have to try it, it is pure, immature fun! ***Word of warning, use the bathroom first or you will pee your pants laughing!

I don't know how they talked Bart into doing this!

But he survived!

Best Snowman On The Block!

Barry and the kids went out Sunday morning and made a snowman. He really did a great job too. The kids are very proud of their snowman that is made of potato buttons & ears, sucker eyes, licorice mouth and of course a carrot nose! Barry is just worried someone will take his LA hat. We are prone to a bit a theft around here...ha ha ha! :)

Christmas #2

We had Christmas twice this year, once on Christmas day and again on Sunday when Bart and Karen came. I always love seeing how much fun our kids have together.

Karen definitely gets a prize for the best 'Surprised Face.'

Here is Sara playing her piano.
She loves music. Whenever Jena starts to sing, Sara waves her hands and bounces. It's so cute!

Spencer, Jena, Ryan and Allie.
They were dieing to open their gifts.

Teri gave all the boys dollar store dart guns and all the girls princess jewelry. Good Job Ter, these were possible the favorite gifts. Even Sara kept her earrings on and loved the flashing star necklace.

Great Movie

I definitely recommend seeing August Rush. It is a great movie and the Irish guy in it isn't so bad himself.
