She's got Game!

Jena has discovered that Baseball comes in PINK!
Watch out Jennie Finch, Jena is playing T-Ball this year!
She can hit, she can throw and she can run like the devil.
She might try to wear a dress to match all her pink accessories...we'll have to work on that. :)

Curls!

Sara had her first official curling iron experience today. I curled her hair with the flat iron. It is so cute, sort of wild, but cute. The pictures are better bigger if you click on them. I can't believe she is going to be ONE in 2 weeks! Time flies. She is definitely not a baby anymore but it is so hard for me to call her a toddler. She is somewhere in between. She is making all her wants and wishes known and has no problem letting her brother and sister no she has had enough of them! She does the most adorable cheesy grin when she knows she is being cute. I couldn't imagine our family without her!

Here is a glimpse at the quilt as it comes along.
It drives Ryan crazy that there is no 'and' for Hugs 'and' Kisses.
And Jena's favorite is the pink striped 'J' in Jenaka.

And my little helpers having a rare moment of brother and sisterly love.

Jena does the funniest things.
This is Sunday morning watching cartoons at like 7am. That is a fuzzy foot massager peguine on her head and under that is a book. Then the white glove is her Easter gloves from Aunt Michelle but she is of course only wearing one, Michael Jackson style.

Photo Overload

I downloaded all the photos off my phone today and found some of them pretty amusing so I thought I'd share. So here is some photo overload...

I've been working on Jena's quilt. I didn't realize how much work it was going to be. Lots of cutting out of applique pieces. Which, for those of you who don't know involves a lot of ironing. I don't iron. It is a 4 letter word at my house. It drives my mom crazy. She often says to me, 'Don't you think you should iron that?' Nope, the wrinkled look is always in! :) So Jen's quilt might take a little longer than needed. Unless my Mama irons for me. She will, I know she will. Love you mom! And just so you know, my mom is freaking awesome. What will I do without her when I move. Pathetic I know but she rocks! She does anything for us at the drop of a hat and never complains, even if she wants to and I'm sure she wants to. Mom's never get enough thanks!

Thanks Mom, I Love You!

New Look

People have been asking what is wrong with my blog. Well, I've been teaching myself how to mess with the xml code and make my own backgrounds and 3 columns instead of 2 and all that good stuff. So I think I've finally got it and I'll stop messing with it now. Hope you like! :)

Spring Fever

So I have baseball on the mind. I need spring. I need warm. I need to go out and play some catch. I need to go out and do some jogging so i can play softball in 2 months. I think I spend November to March waiting for April to October so we can play softball. Sara will soon be an softball orphan, she is not old enough to come with mom and daddy to the ballpark and entertain herself for 2 hours so she will have to stay home. Although my parents, Michelle and Barry's Mom are pretty good about coming to be foster parents to the abandoned children in the ballpark.

This is just a fun picture of Jena last year on the way home from our California trip. We bought that beanie from a guy selling them in traffic after the game and she wouldn't take it off the whole trip. She was also hot, hence the no shirt and minutes after this was taken she threw up all over. Good Times!

Games with Grandpa

I love to watch Grandpa and the kids play games in the evenings. You can always count on at least one wild game of Hide and Sink (no it's not Seek, just ask Jena.) My favorite is the things the kids say. While playing hide and seek grandpa will walk around the house saying 'I wonder where they are'. They always hide in the same place so it's not really a mystery. Then you will hear something like this, 'I'm not under the bed!' Grandpa just laughs and keeps on 'looking.'

Tonight Ryan has them playing Shark Tag. I think the person who is it has to crawl around and be the Shark. There are 2 bases you have to run between to be safe without getting touched by the Shark. Jena and Grandpa are on base, Ryan is the Shark in the other room and you hear him say, 'You can come out now', Grandpa says 'No, you'll get us', Ryan replies 'No I won't, I'm not out here anymore!' So with that, Grandpa makes a run for it. All of this is happening with Sara on Grandpa's shoulders, bouncing around and giggling all the while.

Cute

Here is the material for Jena's quilt. It darn well better turn out to be the cutest thing I've made so far, because it cost a month of groceries! Well not really but close enough. 14+ yards adds up fast at $9 a yard. I don't know why I can't just be easy to please and purchase something at Target. But that's me, hard to please.

I just had to share Sara's cute new shoes. I saw them at Target and 2 seconds later they were in the cart, no thinking about it needed. I think they are adorable.

This is what happens the next morning when you stay up late doing nothing productive. To many zero's on the microwave can really put a wrench in things.

Here is Ryan just because he is cute. He would wear this 49ner's Jersey every day if I let him.

I have a couple new blogs to share for all you blog stockers like me. :) My good friend Melissa finally caught up with technology and got the internet so she has also started a blog and her little sister Megan who has darling kids that I just had to share. They are linked on the side. Welcome to the Blogging world Melissa! Hey Tori, get with it!

I Stand Corrected

So apparently Blogger spell check does not check the title. Oops. My previous post was titled Stikes and Ranting, it is now corrected to Strikes and Ranting. I think I have invited the spell check police to my blog. And now I'm all paranoid about it. I liked it better back when I didn't care. :)

Thanks for all the compliments on the quilt! It turned out so cute and I really enjoy making them, I just don't really need them. I think I might try to sell them on etsy, but we'll see. My mom did the machine quilting on it and it looked great, she needed an excuse to buy the walking foot for her machine anyway. Wow, if any of you own a Bernina sewing machine those parts are over the top expensive! But now I can start Jena's quilt that she has been begging me for since I made Ryan's a few years back. Because I really wanted to machine quilt Jena's. My mom and I hand stitched Ry's. That seems to be the pattern, I make the quilt top and then my mom helps me quilt it because I have no patience.

Here is what Ry's quilt looks like. You can click on it to make it bigger. And here is a link to the album with more detailed pictures. Ry's Quilt Album
It was so fun to make because it has a lot of different textures and of course the baseball theme with stars and star quilting, since I love stars. I had only made one applique quilt before this for my cousin-in-law Andrea so I finally had the technique down for this one. Hopefully Andrea's didn't fall apart, I've always had a fear it would!

Here is sort of what Jena's quilt will look like. I saw this book years ago and fell in love with this pattern. I'm not feeling creative enough to make hers up so I'm using this but I'm going to have to alter the pattern because this is baby quilt size and I want twin size. Plus Jena wants her name on it like Ry's. Once again, you gotta love the stars, plus it's totally girly just for Jena.

Oh and by the way, the talk in sacrament meeting is OVER! Halleluia! I was being all brave thinking I wasn't really nervous and shocked by that too and then I stood up and all the shaking started. Wishful thinking I guess! But can you believe my talk lasted almost 20 minutes! And I didn't pass out or cry or mess up to bad. Did I mention I'm so relieved it's OVER!

Strikes and Ranting

You should see my shower, actually no you shouldn't. I think it is trying to tell me something. All the grout is turning black and the corners are growing this pinkish slimy stuff. Hmmm...what to do about it? I would rather do a whole day of laundry than clean my shower. That's saying a lot too if you know how much I hate laundry. And don't tell me to use that daily shower spray stuff, it doesn't work, I use it. I'm on Shower cleaning strike! Make that bathroom cleaning strike. The only person who could beat me in a dirty bathroom contest is Natalie. Sorry Nat, but you possible have the dirtiest bathroom I've ever seen. Make that had, she did clean it.

Speaking of strikes, I'm on a leg shaving strike. It's really kind of gross, I tell myself it's keeping me warmer through the winter. Not really sure why I don't want to shave, it's not like I have any excuses like I'm pregnant and cannot physically reach them. Maybe I'm afraid I will slip and fall on that pink stuff in my shower.

I think I'm over the writer's strike, I don't even look forward to TV anymore and I previously mentioned Oprah is on the bad list with me, so that leaves the news and I usually end up really annoyed at the world after I watch the news so I'm choosing to live in ignorance to the world right now.

Sorry I didn't have any cutesy Valentine posts yesterday. Barry and I tend to boy cot Valentines Day. We not all that romantic if you've never noticed. I agree with Melanie that Valentines is just a ploy to get us to spend money between Christmas and Easter. Ryan wanted to know where my Valentine to him was, so I gave him a big hug and kiss. He wasn't very happy with that. I ended up getting them some Hershey Kisses to add to the ridiculous amount of candy they already brought home from school that day. Sugar High here we come! So what did we do for Valentines? I ordered pizza (read: Yeah, no cooking for Kelli tonight!) and Barry told me he thought about getting me some flowers but thought I would like money in the bank instead. (He was right) Very Romantic wouldn't you agree!

This post is getting ridiculously long so I'll end it with a picture of how the cute quilt turned out.

And some pictures of Sara, This is my view of her at any given time. Such a Mama's girl. My favorite is the dirty look she's giving me because I am not picking her up. And of course as predicted, trying to get into the dishwasher.

Done

Oh, by the way, I'm done with Sense and Sensibility! Yeah!!! While I enjoyed it, I thought it would never end! I can't do the language it is so hard to read quickly and I like to read quickly. I may have changed my next book too, not sure, we'll see what I come up with.

Go Back to Bed

My day began with Sara smacking my face in bed this morning. She's cute and all, but I am not so great until I'm fully awake and out of bed. Then this happened...

Sara's morning usually starts in the tub when she finally gets me out of bed that is. And I don't have a pictures of this, but she likes to stand up in the tub which we are working on. I was turned around talking to Jena when she stood up, slipped and smacked her chin on the edge of the tub. OUCH! She instantly had a purple bruise. I'm so amazed at how quick my kids bounce back though. She cried for about 5 minutes and then she seemed fine. I would still be crying!

And wow this wind! I can't even see 2 feet out the window because of the snow blowing. Crazy Wind!
I'd like to go back to bed now and start the day over.

Bless the Gap!

I have found the most wonderful Jeans! Gap Curvy Stretch! Jeans that actually cover my rear but don't go clear past my belly button, fit my waist and hips at the same time and are not so extremely tight on my thighs that I can not bend! I wear them every day and vow to buy many more before they don't make them any more! Bless the Gap and Curvy Jeans!

By the way, I don't know what is up with this model. She is not curvy, she should be in the skinny Jeans.

Hilarious

You've all probably seen this before, but it cracks me up!

Rubber Bullet Anyone?

So here is the fun stuff Barry gets to do on the CERT Team at work (Corrections Emergency Response Team). Lets see if you think it looks so fun.

  • Stand next to a grenade with rubber pellets inside, just to see what it feels like
  • Get shot at with rubber bullets, again just to see what it feels like.
  • Pretend to be the unruly inmate in a cell and get the crap kicked out of you.
  • Be the officer coming in the cell and get the crap kicked out of you.
  • Shoot some really cool guns.
Sounds fun right? I don't think so, I'm only up for the last one, how about you? And don't those tiny little beds look so comfortable? Glad you enjoy it Bar!

Digital Scrapbooking

Does anyone out there do Digital Scrapbooking? I really want to learn this but I'm not sure where to start.

No Fear

I got brave on Thursday and decided to take all 3 kids swimming by myself. Not sure what I was thinking! The kids had a great time as they always do when swimming. I was a bit overwhelmed to say the least and am now thinking 3 kids really is a lot more work than 2. I lost Jena twice, Ryan once and smacked Sara in the head with the dressing room door. They did all come home happy and with no bruises though! We will definitely be bringing Daddy next time we go swimming.

This was the first time Sara had gone swimming and boy did she have a great time. I knew she loved the bath and splashed like a maniac every time she gets in, but I still thought she might be nervous in the pool. Boy was I wrong. She crawled right in until it was over her face and then sat up, sputtered and coughed, started to laugh and then got right back on her belly and began to kick and flap her arms while swallowing a ton of water and again, sat up and laughed. It was so cute! She kept trying to get me to let go of her so she could swim to the kids. I was only holding her with one hand on her belly but it was too much for her, she wanted to be Free! She didn't think it was near as fun when I put her in her tube. She just kept trying to climb out. Her swimming suit is 18 months size! I think they tend to make them too small, ecspecially with diapers, but she makes chubby look good. Check her out, she is adorable!

My sister sent me the link to this inspiring video. It is a lecture given by Randy Pausch, a Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. He is dying of Pancreatic Cancer and this is his last lecture titled, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams." It is worth the watch, but the full lecture is 1 hour 15 minutes! You have to find the time to watch it. There is a short version because Oprah asked him to come on her show and give it again. By the way, I'm not so sure how I feel about Oprah these days, she is getting pretty far out there on some things. I haven't been very impressed with her stand or opinions lately. Sorry, little tangent, her are the video links-

By the way, I haven't even really thought about my talk yet...
I'm so stubborn I frustrate myself!

When it Rains it Poors!

So today I placed our 3rd Auto insurance claim in 3 months! None of them were our fault thank goodness but honestly I've had enough already! I got rear-ended the other day with all the kids in the car. Everyone is fine but Jena did loose a RED Slushie down the front of her. That was really great! We have yet to receive a check for our Civic that was stolen. I was told the claim was closed! Show me the Money!

So remember in the 100 things about me list how I mentioned I forget movies minutes after I see them? Well, case in point...I stop at the Red Box to grab a movie, I'm thinking something with Matt Damon, Action. So I choice one thinking, 'oh, I wanted to see that.' This was like 3 days ago and I have forgotten the title already. Anyway, I bring it home and show Barry. He just rolls his eyes and says, 'Kelli, we have seen that! Remember it ends like....' I remember, when he told me. NUTS! Wasted a whole Dollar! Barry says I'm not allowed to rent movies anymore unless he is there or I call him to confirm I have not seen it. I'm good with that plan. :)

Late taking Jena to school...again!

Salt and Vinegar

I love Salt and Vinegar chips, Ryan and Jena have also started to like them. Barry cringes every time we eat them. So guess who else likes them? Yup Sara. She loves them! Should I be feeding my 11 month old chips? Probably not, they are very small pieces I assure you. Barry is going to freak out when he reads this. :) Mmmm Good!

Go VOTE!

I hope you all plan to go vote today! I don't know about other cities but mine is at the Centerville Library.

I put this on the desktop of my computer last night. Barry is mortified that I turned his computer pink!

We went to the Gallivan Center last night and got free tickets to Disney on Ice in March. The kids are very excited to go. It will be on Sara's birthday so that will be fun although I'm sure she could care less!

I have run across several blogs for little baby's who are up at Primary Childrens and very sick. It is so sad! My sister is currently working there and she always comments how big Sara seems compared to the little babies her same age that she takes care of. They are all so sick and skinny and small. We are so greatful for our health! Our family has been so blessed this year with good health. I think we have all had a cold, but never even a trip to the doctor, it is so great! Teri asked me if I would donate my quilt to a friend of hers that she works with. His little boy was just diagnosed with a degenerative muscle disease, I can't remember what it is called. So that is what I will do, I'm not sure a quilt helps all that much, but she said Primary Childrens is always in need of them.
There is a quilt shop in SLC that will give you all the fabric for a quilt if you will make it and donate it to Quilts for Cancer. Here is the link if you are interested.

By the way, you know Sara is getting naughty, well as naughty as an 11 month old can be when I am calling her by her full name several times a day.
SARA JANE!
Don't worry it's a cute naughty, like this one...

Random Friday

So I know I shouldn't joke, but if someone wanted to offer Jenaka a safe, warm, loving, highly patient home where I can come and visit her for the next year I would be so appreciative! I will take her back when she is 5 1/2. The girl is killing me, trying every ounce of patience I never had! I remember Ryan pulling this same stuff about a year ago, but not quite as bad. Late 4 to early 5 years old is quickly becoming my least favorite age of children! I won't go into detail, I'm sure you can imagine. Oh how I love her and ohhh how she tests me! I am failing the test by the way.

Barry is home today, always a good day when your husband is home with you.

Haven't started my talk yet, not even sure what it's suppose to be on. I'm sure Barry will write his the night before, talk for 20 minutes and not think a thing of it. Grrrrr.

I little bit of Sara for you.
She will not go to sleep anymore unless we mummify her. I call it her sleeping cocoon. I have to take her pants and socks off or she sweats to death! Also, whenever I start to wrap her up, she giggles like crazy. It is the funniest thing, and then goes right to sleep. When she wakes up she makes little yelps every minute or so like, 'help I can't get out!'

Granny couldn't resist, her first Piggy Tails!
She is starving here so she is not very pleased I'm taking her picture instead of feeding her.
She sort of looks like the Shrek Baby.

Ryan can finally 'Heeley'. He is So Proud! Now he is talking about a jump he's going to make this summer for his Heeley's, errr not.

Weber County Sheriff's Office has been doing a Background check on Barry. He applied for a job there. Apparently they've tracked down every long lost acquaintance, relative and little known neighbors and given them the 5th degree about Barry. Looks like he may be moving up there, we'll see soon.

Blogger's spell check is not working! :)

Getting a nice tax return. Being boring and responsible with it. So here is a question for you, I'd sincerely love if people would respond. (I think all the people I know have 'fear of leaving a comment'.) If you were getting a nice little chunk of money what would you do with it? Not including any of the responsible things, no bill paying, no saving, no 401K or college funds.

Here is my embarrassingly selfish list of ways to spend the money:

  • I want my teeth whitened-actually I seriously need this, I have the yellowest teeth!
  • I want porcelain veneers on my front teeth. (wow, do you know how much those cost? Like $1000 per tooth. Ridiculous.)
  • I want a Tummy Tuck, rephrase that, I will have a Tummy Tuck when I'm sure we are done with kids. So it won't be this year. I want a normal Belly Button again, like the cute pierced one I used to have back when I 'thought' I was fat. Ryan asked me a while back, 'Mom, what happened to your belly button?' You, Ry, you happened to my belly button!
  • I would also like 'The Girls' lifted back where they originated! I know too much information for some of you! :) But unlike most women out there, I also want mine smaller too! If you want a real boob job, I'd be glad to donate some of mine!
  • I would also like Lasik for both Barry and I. How nice would it be to not have to put contacts in every morning. And not run into walls in the night when you are trying to get a bottle made! Ahhh luxury!
  • Go see Yankee Stadium and the Green Monster.
  • Go on a 2 week long cruise, get a massage every morning and do every possible activity available that would be too expensive after you paid for the cruise its self.

I could go on and on and on. I don't normally think I'm vain, but that list sounds a little vain doesn't it? Oh well, it's all true.

Had Activity Day's today. Made Babysitting Bags. I would never have one of these 11 year olds watch my kids. I have Babysitter issues. I don't know how any teacher's deal with 11 year olds all day. 6 of them at once for 1 hour every other week about does me in! I don't think I'm cut out to be Young Women's President! Not that I aspire to be it either.

I'm making a super cute quilt. Not sure who it's going to be for. I intended it to be for Melissa who is due in June. They aren't finding out what they are having. But it ended up being blue and brown. I think I would use it for a girl, not sure if someone else would though. Karen is having a boy in March, maybe she will get it. Mom and I have gone a little over board buying her stuff. I love boy stuff! Ashley is having a girl...or so the doctor says...I'm waiting till the ultrasound at 19 weeks, I'm a little skeptical. Anyway here's a preview-
