I don't know how you do it!

As I was saying goodnight to Ryan tonight we had the following exchange-

Ryan- Mom when I was in the garage with dad, making my Pinewood Derby Car, he farted 4 times!
Me-  (Laughing at the disgust in Ryan's voice)
Ryan- I don't know how you share a room with him, it's so gross. Does he fart when you sleep by him?
Me-  (Laughing harder) Yep, Ry, he sure does. And your right it's gross.
Ryan- Do you fart when you sleep by him?
Me-  Absolutely never.
From the other room I hear Jena yell- I fart when I'm in my bed!

And with that I went to the kitchen and made myself one of these babies...

 Mmm...Orange Julius

6 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
  25 ice cubes

This is the best recipe I've used so far.
Delish!

From a lucky girl

July 22, 2008

I'll be checking into the ER tonight.

I may or may not be about to have a full blown panic attack.

I'm going to try to make a long story short. Keep in mind, I said try.

Yesterday completely out of the blue, Barry got a phone call from the Weber County Sheriff. You know that job we have been waiting for and stressing about for over a year now? Yeah, that's the same one. This morning he goes for an interview with the Sheriff & Under Sheriff. All goes well. This afternoon he has a job offer in his lap.

Could you hold on please while I go breath in a paper bag?

OK, I think I'm gonna make it.

So after much discussion and Barry and I just blankly staring at each other with looks of shock on our faces, it looks as if he may take the job. There are pros, there are cons, it was just so darn unexpected!!! We were past this, we had moved on, we had shipped it off to sea in one of those cute little bottles never to be seen again and now here it sits in our laps again.

-insert huge sigh of anti-panic type breathing here-

Being that one of the big cons is that Barry has to shave his goatee, and you might think it's funny that it's even an issue but it's a huge issue for both of us, we have decided to try the following. Barry gets to shave it all off starting first thing tomorrow and if the both of us can stand it then he will take the job. So in case you don't see us soon, I am going to be 30 this fall and I'm married to the clean shaven guy that looks 15. :)

I live a sad little life

Do you know what tomorrow is?

It's new iphone day!

Remember my cursed ramblings to Mr. Steve Jobs?

Can I recant them?

I sold my iphone on ebay for $30 less than I paid for it over 1 year ago.
I can't help but wonder what idiot bought it, I mean why someone would want it or pay so much for it when the new one is coming out. Thank You 'trimoonle' in San Fransisco!

You just bought Barry and I both new iphones!

I've been phoneless for 4 days now! And not just phoneless, iphoneless! Wait till you own one, it is a whole new level of withdrawal I assure you!

Friday, July 11th can not come soon enough!

I got the CLEP

***Disclaimer***
I am about to discuss English.
As in proper use of nouns, pronouns, verbs, sentence boundaries, active/passive voice, diction and idiom and Syntax. Few of which I actually know the definition of or better yet the proper use since most of those words I just copied out of a book.
So if you feel the need to judge my English, please understand a few things.
A. I was raised in Utah. (I could end right there.)
B. I was raised by my father, who misuses words on purpose.
C. I rarely attended High School, though I did graduate.
(which I'm not sure I should have. graduated that is, not attended.)
D. Refer here and here and here for more information.

OK, OK, Enough about the title of this post!
Move on already!
Sheesh!

I'm sitting here trying to de-code 2 College CLEP Exam books.

You know the ones that help you study and hopefully give you all the answers.

Not sure why I'm reading them, being that they are for the hubby.

Who, by the way, is in bed, not the slightest bit worried about these books or the tests.

There is something wrong with this picture.

See he has decided, obviously, to CLEP out of a few general credits. As many as possible actually. And there has been a hint of stress around here about a certain English class that has now been taken twice. Not for lack of brain or skill. Something worse really. He just hates English, really, really hates it. Math? He will do that all day, in his sleep in fact. Not English. That's like asking him to read a book for pleasure. People do that? Really? Why?

In his defense I have recently realized I should probably take a little bit of responsibility in this. See the 1st time, I had a baby and well, I'm sort of needy, I admit it and he got pretty behind. Then the week of finals we took a trip to Disneyland. So much funner right? (I just used the word funner. I know it should be 'more fun'. But I use it anyway. Thanks Dad!) So he ended up taking an Incomplete. Not so horrible except that you have to pay for it, again. The 2nd time he misread the final project deadline. Um, what else is there to say? Oops. So what was an A became a C-. Big Oops.

Did you know you can't take the next class unless you have a C?

That's just really great isn't it!

Freaking Fabulous!

Want to know what we were talking about until midnight the night I had my little trip to the ER? Uh Huh, you guessed it, English x3. See if he shows up to class he pretty much gets straight A's, in everything.

So starting next week it's all about Ingles el tres.

See we don't do Spanish well either.

That's all I'm gonna say about that.

You believe me, right?

Well, I'm might have to get with Melissa and hash it out just one more time.

But then I'm done.

I swear!

What do you think?

This isn't the greatest quality picture, but what do you think, do they look just alike or what?

Ry just came wandering in the office at 1:06 a.m.

The kindergarten is going to the zoo tomorrow morning.
He's worried he won't wake up in time.

He's so excited he can't sleep.

Not excited about the zoo, excited to ride the BUS!
There are no buses to his school and to him there could be nothing cooler than riding the BUS!

I expect he'll wander in again around 4 am and again at 6:30.

I think this might be more exciting than Christmas.

We'll see if I get up in time...I would never live that one down!

Poor, Poor Little Hubby

Barry and Jena 2004

Barry went in for some Allergy testing today.

No big deal, right?

Well, if your not allergic to anything, then yeah.

If you are Barry you nearly give the nurse a heart attack, call in the doctor, get shot up with every medication in the office and get sent home without even finishing the test.

Good time, huh?

So the down low is that if you are allergic to as many things as my husband than you have to take a dose of Benadryl, get a shot of something that I've never heard of and then another shot of Epinephrine because the first 2 aren't working.

Then you lay down for 1/2 hour while the itching subsides and your throat stops swelling.

Next you try to drive home without falling asleep behind the wheel because you are so medicated.

And lastly, you get to call in sick to work and sleep all day.

Now if you know my husband then you know how much he L O V E S to sleep. So I'm thinkin it was all a plot to get a sick day that no one could question and a free pass to sleep all day long.

I'm only joking of course. I love him and I'm glad he didn't die. But hey could you take the garbage out? And Sara is stinky, could you change her? Oh, me? What am I doing? I'm watching American Idol Honey! I know I've never watched it before but it's the last one! Hello, your fine now right?

Sensitivity is not my strong point. I'm working on it. I blame it on my mom. She was too good to me.

Now you know why my husband cleans up the throw up at our house and if the kids come in to our bed at night they always go to his side and why my mother thinks my husband walks on water. I married up y'all and I know it. He is a good, good, good man with more patience than I have in my little finger.

Now if I were sick...whoa, that's a whole other ballgame!

I didn't realize it at the time, but check it out.
Barry was apparently 12 when I married him.
And I never noticed I had a mushroom head!
Why didn't anyone tell me?

The Boys of Summer

Have I mentioned I love baseball? I think I might have mentioned it. The Guys played their first tournament this weekend. I could sit there all day 5 days a week and watch them play. Had I seen Barry play baseball on our first date it would have taken me 1 day to know he was the one, instead it took 5 days and a date to the Buzz game to be sure. It is such a great sport!

This is the way Barry stands when he watches baseball. I'm not sure he even realizes it but he is like this almost the whole game. Unless he's actually playing of course.

I can't say that the 4th street park in Ogden is all that kid friendly of a spot though. If you ever play there you may want to bring ear plugs for the children or banish them to the grass away from all the scantily dress hookers and their F bomb dropping, beer guzzling men - Oh wait I mean the upstanding men and women of the greater Ogden area who frequent this ballpark. Better yet, leave the youngin's home and bring ear plugs for yourself. :)

And oh man did the wind blow! I wiped down my face with a wet wipe after 2 games and it is black y'all, black. My eyebrows are crusty and my ears have mud in them. Yes mud, they turned on the sprinklers to wet down the field and the wind helped the water into the stands to gives us all a good soak. Sara was not so sure if she should be upset about this or not. She was also a bit frustrated with the fact that all of the kids got to run free and she could not. It must be very frustrating to be one year old. You can see her brain working a thousand miles an hour but her body will just not cooperate! She wants to run and play catch and climb and do all the things the big kids do but she is stuck with us boring adults. Good thing Ashley and Nate have a little one coming soon so Sara won't feel so left out of the big kids.

I had to bring Jena home for a BDay party half way through the day and she crashed, I could hardly wake her to go to her party. After 2 late night games Friday, a sleepover and games starting at 8am, she was pooped! She could not keep her eyes open but she kept trying to tell me that she did not need a nap, it was a bit slurred in her efforts to stay awake and talk at once. I'm sure Ryan will be crying tonight that his legs ache. He will go, go, go and then his body sort of falls apart. He, Chris and Michelle went to a Blaze football game last night and then to the ballpark at 11pm! Me and Sara did not participate in all this late night fun. We went to bed and I read my book and slept in until 8:30. Oh So Nice!

For y'all who don't know how to play baseball, here is a tutorial for you. :)

Hit the ball...

Run to 1st...

And 2nd...
(A little commentary about this picture. We have a friend who we place softball with, who shall remain nameless. When he runs the bases he looks like Captain Jack (Johnny Depp) in Pirates of the Caribbean. We laugh every time he runs the bases, though he doesn't know. And Barry looks just like that in this picture.)

And 3rd...

Then slide into home. Coming up with bloody knees like Barry is only optional.
Blood, Dirt, Sweat and a little healthy yelling at the ump, isn't it great!
The Fans

Nat, Sydney and Megan (Hiding from the flying dirt)

Ashley and Nate. Nate kept hoping someone wouldn't show so he would just have to play! He just had his ACL and MCL repaired. :( Too bad, although I don't think the wifey would have been to happy if he had.

Checkin' out Uncle Nate's Cool Surgery Scars.
Trying to figure out how to get her shoe back on.
And just being so darn cute you can't resist her!Sara was so dirty and sticky! I apparently had a stupid mommy moment because I failed to put any sunscreen on anyone and Sara is now sporty a set of pretty pink cheeks and a pink stripe down her head. Oops! But as Nate would say, 'It's all good!' By the way, who puts their baby in white to go to a park full of dirt? Apparently I do. Thank goodness for Spray 'n' Wash and Bleach.

How Do You Know?

We watched Enchanted last night, it is very cute. Her song 'How do you know' got me thinking...How do I know that Barry loves me?

A couple months ago, Sara 'tossed her cookies' on Barry and I's pillows. So I decided to go get new pillows, it was about time anyway. I got some nice new fluffy ones. Barry likes flat, dense pillows, the part of my brain that holds the info was tempararily on vacation that day. He slept with them for about a week and then went hunting through the house for 'old, flat ones' and switched them out.

I have had a cold/sinus infection for the last 4 weeks and my neck has been very sore. So one night when Barry was up late doing homework I decided to try his flat pillow to see if it would help. It did and and I have not given it back for about 2 weeks now. So where is all of this going?

I know he loves me because he has never complained or asked for the pillow back. Silly, I know but it's the little things that don't have to be said that say so much.
I love you Barry, Thanks for loving me!

The Kidos

Jena decided last night she would like to put sponge curlers in her hair like we did when she was little.

This was this evening after being in a ponytail all day. How I wish she would have let me take a picture of it this morning. (She was in no mood for pictures and when Jena is in 'no mood' that means she's in 'quite a mood' and you don't mess with her or you will face the consequences.) When I took the curlers out and combed through it with my fingers it literally was standing straight out from her head in all directions. It was fascinating and hilarious! She was laughing at her self in the mirror all morning long and then decided we better put it in a pony so know one else would laugh at her.
Ry can't stand his soccer socks. They make his legs itch like crazy. I remember mine doing the same thing.
Who knew Ryan would be so great at soccer? He scored 6 of the 8 goals tonight. Did you know soccer was a full contact sport? Well in the 6 year old league it is, full contact with the ground, the coach and all the other kids. In fact it's like watching football with a round ball.
He runs himself so hard he is exhausted by the end of the game, I love that. ;) Did anyone catch Tori's comment before to Barry about Soccer?
Tori-'Barry is okay with your children playing soccer. Way to go Barry. You decided your kids needed a sport that actually gave the kids some exercise, unlike baseball. :)'

Too funny Tori! Barry hates soccer, not sure if I mentioned that, hates it. Shall I say it again? But really they do get so much more exercise and it is just as entertaining as kids missing the ball, swinging the bat in full circles and running the bases the wrong way. Good Times!

By the way, Deep down he is not really ok with it, just trying to be a 'Good' Dad and if you knock baseball again we might not let you in the house next time you come over! We still love your your guts though!

I'll tell you what, my husband is a hotty!

Happy Birthday Barry!

The kids made Barry a giant Birthday Card. They had a great time making it while daddy slept in. I don't think you can read it, but Ryan wrote 'Do you still love your kids?' I have no idea why but I thought it was pretty funny.

Barry got some baseball cupcakes. I had way to much going on today and they ended up pretty Sad, but they tasted fine and that's all we care about, right?

Things we love about Barry...
  1. He is a very caring, attentive father.
  2. His children adore him.
  3. He is a wonderful, understanding husband.
  4. He is very forgiving.
  5. He is his mother's 'Golden Boy'. This means he can do no wrong by her, it's not a bad thing, just a fact. :)
  6. He Loves Baseball, mostly the Dodgers.
  7. Did I mention he Loves Baseball?
  8. He also loves all other sports EXCEPT Soccer!
  9. He Loves Star Wars and and I wouldn't be surprised if he and Aaron Bean start up some kind of Star Wars club!
  10. He is a Nerd and proud of it. :)
  11. He Loves Transformers.
  12. He Loves the Avatar Cartoons.
  13. He Loves Pepsi.
  14. He Loves Golf.
  15. He Loves Movies. He can remember any line from any movie he has ever seen.
  16. He Loves Computers-Apple Computers that is. Is there another kind of computer?
  17. He teaches Defensive Tactics and Pressure Point Control so you want to be on his good side!
  18. He is very smart. He remembers facts about everything and hardly has to study.
  19. People think he is 'scary' when he has on a beanie and sunglasses.
  20. He is one of the least 'scary' people I know.
We Love You Barry!

It's a Thursday

Not much interesting to post today.
Just a boring Thursday.
With our typical 8:00 am breakfast drama.

Sara had her first taste of eggs this morning.
She hated the white, ate 3 bites of yolk and then spit that out too.
She is getting harder and harder to feed.
I don't think we will be giving up the bottle soon sense it is her main form of nourishment other than crackers, bread, apple juice, mashed potatoes and peas.
How do you like the defiant little arm crossing?
It's that or hitting the spoon away.

Aren't these just the most adorable little feet?
I love when my kids sit with their feet crossed.
They have all started doing it at about 6-7 months in their car seats.
The other thing Sara does is sit with her arms on the arm rests in her car seat.
And if you put your hand on her car seat she will growl at you and push it off.
Don't test her either, if you continue to do this she will scream and flail her arms back and forth until you stop touching!
Don't Mess With Her! It is Her Space!

Barry thought my hair was hilarious this morning.
You can tell it's not often he sees me in the morning!
I blow dry it and then spray it all crazy with hair spray before I flat iron it.
I just had to feed a baby breakfast in between those 2 steps this morning.
I don't even think it looks that bad!
Sara's hair is all crazy and he didn't laugh at her! :)

March 8, 2008

Get Me Out!

I think Sara is as stir crazy as I am. My family will tell you I am Super-Duper Onrey the last few days. I believe I have quite the case of PMS not that you wanted to know! :)

Things that have helped in the past few days:
Getting outside to go walking
An entire package of Oreo Cookies.
Pepsi, lots and lots of Pepsi.
A package of Flips White Chocolate covered Pretzels.
More Pepsi
and of course now we need more walking. It just needs to be faster than Jena's 2 mph bike riding with stops every 20 feet.

I am also very forgetful lately. I have more than once gotten in the car driven to the store and when I got inside I wander for 1/2 hour with no clue as to what I came for! I also had Activity Days at my house on Friday afternoon...I didn't show up! Yup, I went downtown to run some erronds! Can you believe that! I was mortified when I finally remembered, good thing my partner is so great and just laughed at me! I'm not even this forgetful when I'm pregnant, and I'm not pregnant just so you know! I don't think I'll leave the house for a while, at least not in the car, it will be safer that way.

Notice Sara's dirty shoes? They are only a few weeks old. Barry took her over to the playground in the walker so he could play basketball with Ryan. I'm told she LOVED IT! She was all over the playground at a run. They also have a walking path with a few slight hills. The kids road their bikes around the path and Sara chased them at a full run around the path, when she hit the hills she zoomed down, feet up and hit the grass to stop and then after Daddy fixed her position, she was off again! Hence the dirty shoes, and one happy but very tired little girl!

New Bike

Jena finally got a new bike.
Hers broke last fall and she went without until the snow fell. She is so pleased it is as big as Ryan's! We told her she could choose whichever she wanted and she chose the cheapest one! Yeah Jena! And it is not pink! She did however have to have the High School Musical Helmet, because 'It Matches!'
Our family loves to go for bike rides.
We also got Sara one of those kids seats for the back but we have yet to try it out. We have ridden down the street every day this week to a little barn with Horses, Donkey's, Roosters, Chickens and some other really pretty bird which, to my children's disgust, I do not have a clue what they are.

Sara loves 'Peek A Boo'.
We play it while doing everything, this is how I get her to do things, Distraction! Barry has recently taught her to hide under the blanket and wait till someone finds her instead of immediatly pulling it off. It is SO cute! If you put a blanket on her head she will sit there for at least 3-4 minutes and not move a muscle, but you will occasionally hear a little giggle from under the blanket. When you finally take it off she cracks up. It is a family favorite now and she loves to play along.

Strikes and Ranting

You should see my shower, actually no you shouldn't. I think it is trying to tell me something. All the grout is turning black and the corners are growing this pinkish slimy stuff. Hmmm...what to do about it? I would rather do a whole day of laundry than clean my shower. That's saying a lot too if you know how much I hate laundry. And don't tell me to use that daily shower spray stuff, it doesn't work, I use it. I'm on Shower cleaning strike! Make that bathroom cleaning strike. The only person who could beat me in a dirty bathroom contest is Natalie. Sorry Nat, but you possible have the dirtiest bathroom I've ever seen. Make that had, she did clean it.

Speaking of strikes, I'm on a leg shaving strike. It's really kind of gross, I tell myself it's keeping me warmer through the winter. Not really sure why I don't want to shave, it's not like I have any excuses like I'm pregnant and cannot physically reach them. Maybe I'm afraid I will slip and fall on that pink stuff in my shower.

I think I'm over the writer's strike, I don't even look forward to TV anymore and I previously mentioned Oprah is on the bad list with me, so that leaves the news and I usually end up really annoyed at the world after I watch the news so I'm choosing to live in ignorance to the world right now.

Sorry I didn't have any cutesy Valentine posts yesterday. Barry and I tend to boy cot Valentines Day. We not all that romantic if you've never noticed. I agree with Melanie that Valentines is just a ploy to get us to spend money between Christmas and Easter. Ryan wanted to know where my Valentine to him was, so I gave him a big hug and kiss. He wasn't very happy with that. I ended up getting them some Hershey Kisses to add to the ridiculous amount of candy they already brought home from school that day. Sugar High here we come! So what did we do for Valentines? I ordered pizza (read: Yeah, no cooking for Kelli tonight!) and Barry told me he thought about getting me some flowers but thought I would like money in the bank instead. (He was right) Very Romantic wouldn't you agree!

This post is getting ridiculously long so I'll end it with a picture of how the cute quilt turned out.

And some pictures of Sara, This is my view of her at any given time. Such a Mama's girl. My favorite is the dirty look she's giving me because I am not picking her up. And of course as predicted, trying to get into the dishwasher.

Rubber Bullet Anyone?

So here is the fun stuff Barry gets to do on the CERT Team at work (Corrections Emergency Response Team). Lets see if you think it looks so fun.

  • Stand next to a grenade with rubber pellets inside, just to see what it feels like
  • Get shot at with rubber bullets, again just to see what it feels like.
  • Pretend to be the unruly inmate in a cell and get the crap kicked out of you.
  • Be the officer coming in the cell and get the crap kicked out of you.
  • Shoot some really cool guns.
Sounds fun right? I don't think so, I'm only up for the last one, how about you? And don't those tiny little beds look so comfortable? Glad you enjoy it Bar!
